In late September 2023, the Queensland Migration Program will begin its invitation process for selected candidates. These invitations will continue on a monthly basis for the entire 2023-24 financial year. To maintain a balanced and stable frequency of invitations in the annual cycle, a limit will be set on the number of candidates invited each month. Given the competitive nature of this process, it is advisable to consider other possible migration routes.
If you meet all the eligibility criteria and are willing to file an Expression of Interest (EOI), it is mandatory to submit a completely new EOI through Skill Selection. Only EOIs submitted on or after 6 September 2023 will be assessed by Migration Queensland; Updated will be ignored.

Onshore Skilled Professionals in Queensland
This stream is accessible to professions listed under the Department of Home Affairs. Queensland is scouting for candidates with a minimum of 75 points for the 190 visa and 65 points for the 491 visa. To qualify, candidates must be employed within Queensland. Other conditions to keep in mind include the requirement for businesses to have a physical Queensland office; Virtual setup will not suffice.
Key Qualifying Criteria for Onshore Skilled Professionals:
• Secure a score of 65 or more, inclusive of state endorsement points.
• Obtain a favorable skills review for your chosen profession.
• Be younger than 45 years.
• Achieve at least the "Competent" English proficiency level, unless your evaluation authority demands a higher standard.
Offshore Skilled Professionals
For such professionals based overseas, Queensland has set a benchmark of 75 points for the 190 visa and 65 points for the 491 visa. The Queensland Skilled Profession List for overseas applicants encompasses 236 professions. Depending on the specific profession, three to five years of experience is required.
Queensland University Graduates
This route caters to exceptional graduates from universities within Queensland, currently residing in the state. It is significant that the entire course was conducted in Queensland. Depending on the degree received, certain conditions such as GPA and employment status may apply.
491 Small Business Owners (SBO) Route
Aimed at immigrants presently residing and running a small-scale business in Queensland's regional zones. The occupation must be listed under Home Affairs legislative instrument LIN 19/051 with a favorable skills assessment. Must have full employment rights, excluding any ongoing educational activity.
Queensland will extend invitations to those registered with an EOI in the Department of Home Affairs' framework. It is important to be patient after filing your EOI. Invitation is not guaranteed. Expanding your horizons by considering different states and visa types can increase your chances.
