Express Entry Draws Based on Categories
On May 31, the IRCC confirmed the introduction of six novel selection categories for Express Entry sessions. These categories were determined after an assessment of future labor needs and negotiations with various partners, partners and provincial and territorial administrations. The classes identified include:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions
- Strong French language proficiency
- Transport
- Agriculture and Agri-Food
- Healthcare
- Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
To date, IRCC has orchestrated seven selection sessions under the recently introduced category-centric approach for Express Entry.
Starting in June 2022, the Canadian government began introducing category-focused selection sessions. This adaptation to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act was realized to endorse the immigration of individuals exhibiting traits that resonate with Canada's economic directives.
