On August 24, 2023, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) carried out yet another round of invitations under its Expression of Interest (EOI) system. A total of 623 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for provincial nomination across three distinct categories: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, the International Education Stream, and Skilled Worker Overseas.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scoresfor these invites ranged from 612 to 724. This means candidates within this scoring range stood a chance to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Expression of Interest Draw #190- Manitoba PNP draw
Skilled Worker in Manitoba:
This category primarily targeted candidates currently employed in Manitoba and in roles that are urgently needed in the province. Occupations from the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 categories 73, 74, and 75 were specifically emphasized.
The lowest CRS score that received an LAA was 612.
There was also a secondary selection for those who didn't fit the urgent job criteria. Here, the invites were more open.
They gave out an additional 250 LAAs.
The least scoring candidate in this subset had a CRS score of 646.
International Education Stream:
If you've met the criteria under this educational stream, you were in the running.
They sent out 63 LAAs for this category.
Skilled Worker Overseas:
These are for candidates who got a direct nod from the Manitoba PNP under what they call a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
54 LAAs were rolled out here.
The candidate with the lowest CRS score had a 724.
Additional Details
Out of the 623 total invitations, 178 went to candidates who also had a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code, signaling their intent for broader Canadian immigration.
Trends and Frequency
The frequency of these draws tends to be bi-weekly, but Manitoba flexes this schedule based on their needs. It's clear from the recent pattern of back-to-back draws and lower required CRS scores that Manitoba is keen on boosting its population through these immigration streams.
As far as future prospects go, the types of jobs in demand and the scoring requirements can change based on the province's evolving needs. But generally speaking, if you have a high CRS score and experience or skills in one of Manitoba's in-demand occupations, your chances of receiving an LAA are significantly higher.
